Dog Obedience Training | The Wilderness Reserve

Dog Obedience Training

Your dog doesn’t have to be a hunter to benefit from the dog obedience training available at The Wilderness Reserve. By taking the time to complete obedience training, your life will be more fulfilling and rewarding with a well mannered puppy.

Many people that experience behavior problems with their pet have never taken the time to do proper training. Our training is meant to be enjoyable for you and your pet in the right setting with the right tools to produce noticeable results.

The essential ingredient to effective training is establishing the appropriate relationship between you, your family, and your dog. As dogs are pack animals, they respond and follow a good leader. We will work to establish you and your family as leaders from your dog’s perspective.

The development of your dog will be a satisfying experience for the whole family. Try to picture your immediate family as a team. Each member of your family would be a coach and your dog is the player. From this perspective, we can teach you the skills to allow your dog to accept that your family members are the leaders.

Improving Quality of Life for Your Pet and Your Family

Specialized Training Areas

Basic obedience training makes dog ownership a pleasure for you and your family. It’s hard to enjoy your canine companion if they are chewing on the wrong objects at home, soiling your carpets, nipping, jumping inappropriately, or barking at the wrong times. Our overall goal of the training is to teach the skills to create confident, satisfied dog owners and a happy, obedient dog. Training areas of concentration are offered in these areas:

  • Name recognition for commands
  • Potty training
  • Crate training
  • Boundary training
  • Basic commands - Sit/Stay/Come/Down
  • Advanced commands - Leave It/Drop It/Heel
  • Leash training
  • Loose leash walking
  • Greeting people politely
  • Improving house manners
  • Socialization with other dogs
  • Socialization with other people
  • Practice behaviors with distractions
  • Additional commands - Wait/Go To Bed
  • Fixing present undesirable behaviors
